L.T.G.s - Life Transformation GroupsWHAT IS AN LTG?* A Life Transformation Group (LTG) is the church in its simplest form. It contains all the basic DNA of the church: D - "Divine Truth" - Truth comes through knowing Jesus personally, being filled with the Holy Spirit who gives us the 'mind of Christ', and the Bible, which is 'inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, and for correction, for training in righteousness so that we may be equipped for every good work.' (1 Tim 3:16) N - "Nurturing Relationships" - Our need for relationship is a reflection of the image of God in us. We long to be in community with God and other people, and are created to bless and be blessed through loving relationships. A - "Apostolic Mission" - The word "apostolic" means "sent". We are sent into the world by Jesus on a mission: to make disciples of all the nations. (John 20:21) WHAT DOES AN LTG DO? An LTG meets once a week for approx. one hour. An LTG is flexible and can meet almost anywhere and at any time. An LTG is a group of two or three people (when a fourth person is added the group should plan to multiply soon). LTG's don't have a set curriculum, workbook, or group leader. However we do read large chunks of scripture and seek to understand how it applies to our lives. THREE STEPS TO AN LTG MEETING: Anyone can start an LTG. Just grab a friend or two and work through these simple steps together. STEP 1: LIFE QUESTIONS Have you loved Jesus this week with your whole self: mind, body, emotions, abilities, finances etc? In what way(s) did your life communicate something about Jesus this week? Did you finish the reading and hear from God? How will you respond to it? STEP 2: REVIEW READING Your group should read about 20-30 chapters of the bible throughout the week. When you come together at the LTG take some time to share with each other what God has been teaching you through your reading. This is not so much meant as an indepth bible study (i.e. dig into the Greek texts and pull out the commentaries) but the reading is more directed to how God wants to personally impact your life. What will you do with what you have learned? STEP 3: STRATEGIC PRAYER FOCUS Each group should identify two or three people whom you feel God is leading you to pray for their salvation. Keep these names in a journal so you remember to continue to pray for them weekly. You can also spend time in prayer and encouragement for one another.
HOW DO I JOIN AN LTG? An LTG can start anywhere at any time - so feel free to initiate a new one based on the above principles. There are Life Transformation Group pamphlets available at the Khi office. These will help guide you through the establishment and development of your group. If you would like to join an existing LTG group contact the Khi office or email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . We are usually aware of a number of groups in operation and may be able to help connect you with one. *We want to give credit to author Neil Cole for this discipleship tool.
